We are sorry to report the sudden and very sad loss of Bellingham Councillor and friend Sue Hordijenko.
Councillor Sue Hordijenko represented Bellingham ward since the 22 July 2016 when she was elected in a by-election and dedicated herself to her community working tirelessly to make it a better place. Sue was a kind and compassionate councillor and will be remembered for her warmth, friendly smile and support for the people she represented in Bellingham.
Sue was a popular and respected figure at the Council who contributed to the Licensing Committee in a well-considered measured way. Sue served on the Healthier Communities Select Committee concerned about the well-being of rough sleepers and the homeless. Sue’s belief that everyone should have a decent home lead to her enthusiastic work on the board of Phoenix Community Housing Association.
Sue will be missed in the Labour Party particularly for her hard work around elections
We are deeply saddened by the death of our friend and colleague – our thoughts and prayers are with Sue’s family and friends.
A Just Giving page has been set up to support a charity close to Sue’s heart, the Marcus Rashford charity ‘FareShare’ fighting hunger in the nation’s most vulnerable communities.
