I am delighted to report that Lewisham Council has opened a fourth public rapid coronavirus test site at the Sydenham Centre. Initial feedback from the walk-in has been very positive with a steady flow of residents and results within the hour.
By getting a regular rapid test people who need to leave their homes for work, volunteering or caring responsibilities are helping to protect the people around them.
Tests are available in Ignition Brewery six days a week (Mon – Sat) from 9.30am – 4pm Monday and Wednesday, 9.30am – 7pm Tuesday and Thursday, 9.30 – 3pm on Friday and 9.30am – 2pm on Saturday.
Tests are for anyone without covid symptoms – one in three people who have Covid-19 have no symptoms and can spread it without realising.
Lewisham carries out a full deep clean of the area in use in advance of the click and collect service that Ignition Brewery offers on a Friday and Saturday evening. Ignition Brewery have been fantastic in supporting our efforts to keep our community safe and strong.
I am really pleased that we have opened this site in the west of the Borough and help provide rapid testing as accessible as possible to our residents. For more information and booking please go to www.lewisham.gov.uk/rapidtest
The more residents that are tested the faster we can get a grip on the virus and reduce the reproduction rate.
The good news is that the roll-out of the vaccination programme is going well – and a huge thanks to the team at Sydenham Green GP centre including all the volunteers.
