Consumer behaviours and the way we shop is changing, and that is why our local high streets and businesses need better support to evolve alongside them… For over 12 months, businesses across our community have been in survival mode… It’s time that our Conservative council did more to help.

Labour would ensure that innovative ideas and fresh thinking led the way, after all… The world has changed, and the council cannot carry on pretending that it hasn’t.

With some imagination and investment, we have the opportunity to kickstart our local economy and to get our community back on track. For example, we could support commercial property owners to transform vacant retail spaces into thriving enterprise hubs – fostering collaboration, as well as an exchange of ideas, resources and support for our local entrepreneurs and small businesses.

We also have the opportunity to build stronger relationships between employers and those looking for work or further training. This is an area I have launched long-standing social initiatives in myself.

Unlike the Conservatives, we will not bury our heads in the sand. If elected on May 6th, I will do everything in my power to ensure that our local businesses and residents get the support they need.
